The one cookie

There is exactly one cookie on this site, and its only job is to remember whether you said yes or no to analytics. It is set when you choose, never before.

Stores whether you accepted analytics, plus a version number so that a material change to this policy asks you again instead of assuming the old answer still stands.

Your yes or no and that version number. No identifier, nothing about you, nothing we can tie back to a person.

Duration

Twelve months, then it expires and you are asked again.

Who reads it

Only this site, in your own browser. It is not sent to any third party and it is not used for anything else.

Because this cookie exists solely to record a legally required choice, it does not itself need consent. Refusing it is not possible without also refusing to have your refusal remembered.

Analytics, which sets no cookies

If you accept, we load Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It tells us which pages get read. It is worth being precise about what it does not do:

• It sets no cookies and writes nothing to your device, not in local storage and not in session storage.
• It does not follow you to other sites, because it only runs on this one.
• It does not build a profile, and we never see an individual visitor.

One thing it does do, and you should know it before you decide: the script is served from a Vercel domain rather than from ours, so accepting means your browser makes a request to Vercel and, as with any web request, your IP address is visible to them in the process. Vercel acts as our processor and does not use it to identify you. Nothing else on this site contacts an outside server.

The script is not on the page until you accept. If you reject, or if you never answer, nothing is requested and nothing runs. We still ask, because loading an analytics script is a choice you get to make even when it stores nothing.

Change your mind

The banner only appears while you have not chosen, so this is where you come back to change it. Withdrawing is one click, exactly like accepting was.

You can also clear the cookie in your browser settings, which puts the site back to asking. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies per site; blocking all cookies here just means you get asked on each visit.

What is not here

Things a cookie policy usually has to mention, and why this one does not:

• No advertising or retargeting cookies. There is no ad network on this site.
• No social media embeds. No like buttons, no embedded feeds, nothing that phones home to a social network.
• No external fonts. The typefaces are served from this domain, so no request reaches Google Fonts and no IP address goes with it.
• No session or login cookies. There is nothing to log in to.

If this changes

Adding anything that stores data on your device means updating this page and resetting your saved choice, so you get asked again rather than being carried over on an answer you gave to a different question.
